FREEDOM

Freedom’s just another word

For nothing left to lose.

Janis, lived this truth

Didn’t make it an excuse.

When I believed her song

Freedom was not my thought

All I felt was emptiness, a

Hopeless, endless fog.

Reminded me just how long

I’d have to live this way

No one or nothing else had

made life a happy place

Then woke up and heard

her song sung in an AA room

I learned It’s not about losing

that removes fear and gloom

Freedom’s just another word

For knowing who we are

Nothing don’t mean nothing, honey

‘cause no thing gets us far

Freedom’s just another word

For choosing that inner power

I firmly believe that it was no accident when I was drawn to quality management. The tools and techniques, used in improving manufacturing processes, spilled over into my personal life and I began to gradually make life-changing decisions that moved me (slowly) along my spiritual path.

Conscious awakening leaped forward in an alcohol recovery program. This led to an introduction to Religious Science (Science of Mind). I completed three years of classes in Fremont, CA.

After moving to Alameda, The Home of Truth drew me and before long became my spiritual home. I discontinued SOM classes and began study there with additional courses in the humanities and philosophy at College of Alameda. I have served in many other areas: Care Giving, Board of Directors-Treasurer, Worship Team Member, Choir Member, Youth Group Leader, Newsletter Editor & Web Site Administrator.

I received Lay-Ministry Certification in January-2004. Served as the facilitator for an evening Spiritual Discussions Group and conducted Sunday Services, as scheduled by the minister. I was ordained by The Home of Truth Spiritual Center's minister and congregation in December-2005.

I have studied various meditation styles and currently practice Mystic Christian Meditation; Chanting the Gayatri Mantra;  Native American Flute and Walking Meditations in Nature.

On July 25, 2010 I completed the 18-month, "One Light Interfaith Seminary"  course of study and experience. I was presented with a Certificate of Interfaith Ministery. Through this program, I have discovered the re-emergence of Deism and find that I have always known that God is Nature/Creation and that everything is evolving. The Earth, all Life, Spiritual understanding, nothing can remain unchanged. The thing, the concept, the thought, the idea must change or become stagnet and slowly begin to disintergrate. This is evolution, and I believe that evolution must occur at all levels of existance. Including Religions and how they assist us in understanding and connecting with "Our Loving Creator".

I enjoy writing poetry and lyrics and have self-published my first book. Singing and listening to music or  just being with my children, grandchildren and dear friends is how I fill my days with Joy.
